Helping Four Happy Travelers Catch Their Train to Milan

A Morning at Santa Lucia: Helping Four Happy Travelers Catch Their Train to Milan

Some days at Santa Lucia Train Station make me remember why I like this job.

This morning I met a group of travelers all from the United States, who had just come in by water taxi from their hotel. They had a lot of bags. Designer suitcases, several big bags and personal things. Too much for four people to carry through Venices small streets and over the bridges by themselves.

That is when a Venice porter service is useful. I put everything on my cart made sure it was balanced (anyone who has tried to put six suitcases on a two-wheel trolley knows it is a bit of a skill) and walked them from the water taxi stop to Platform 1 at Santa Lucia Station, where they took their train to Milan.

On the way we talked, Took some photos outside the station gate. You can see in the pictures just how happy and relieved they were. No more carrying bags over stones no more worrying about missing their train because of bag problems. Just a simple easy walk to the platform.

Honestly this is what makes the job good. It is not about moving bags. It is, about helping travelers have one less thing to worry about during their trip.. For a small amount of euros they had their bags taken safely right on time with a smile.

If you are arriving in Venice by water taxi, vaporetto or gondola and going to Santa Lucia Railway Station with bags do not try to do it alone. A porter can help your back save your time and protect your train connection.
